$1000 for a week in the Dom. Rep.?

I'm meeting a friend in Santo Domingo--he's coming in from Lima, Peru so we can't exactly purchase a package deal. For those of you with DR experience, is $1000 enough for a week for one person? That will have to pay lodging, food, and souvenirs, etc. Thanks!

Take at least $2000. You may bring back lots of change.but it is better to have cash just in case a problem arises.

Weather delays planes. It would suck to be stuck in the airport when you could get a hotel room.

You can live the good life in the DR on $1,000/week.
You have two choice book an all inclusive in Punta Cana if that is what you are looking for, 2 go on a road trip around the Island. Check my other posts on the DR for more info on both.
